HAPPY VALENTINES DAY—to everyone…including you “singleton scrooge”

“Singleton Scrooge” you know the type-hates Valentines day, says there’s so much pressure.  Is ticked off this morning because her Starbucks barista made a heart shape in her foam.  Would rather plummet a heart shaped pinata to death-consequently eating all the candy inside then blaming her belly ache on this crappy holiday.  UNTIL, next year when prince charming shows up and brings her a dozen roses at work to make all her co-worker jealous (well played Prince Charming, well played).

I dig it.  SHH is awesome everyday, so Valentines day isn’t a big deal in our house.  I have to face the facts, there are no upgrades to that upgrade–he is as good as they come TIMES a gagillion 🙂

Here are some Valentines Inspirations:

I HATE BALLOONS--Seriously, they make me blink incessantly. I feel like they are gonna pop at any second. Its exhausting. But this ethereal quality of this picture is intoxicating to me.

No need for words...

There is nothing more that I love then old people in LOVE. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE TWO.

Dear Singleton Scrooge, your heart will go on. xoxo, M

LOVE.

MY PROFESSIONAL PRODUCT WHORE OPINION:

I am very recently obsessed with Vitamin C.  You might remember HERE when I posted about the Murad Vitamin C serum–I LOVE IT.

This Renewal Complex is the ODDEST consistency.  Its like a lotion/serum combo–but it almost feels exfoliating when it goes on.  And when it hits your skin it almost turns to…nothing.  Its hard to explain.  Its so sheer and SILKY smooth going on and a little tingly.

This is one of the only products I have ever purchased that has an IMMEDIATE result. SERIOUSLY, in the first few days I could tell that my skin was more radiant and A LOT smoother.  NOTICEABLY SO!  Currently, I am using the serum at night and the Renewal Complex for day-topped with SPF 30 from PTB.

It’s an expensive product, but I really love it.  When I was in Sephora I was lucky enough to connect with the Murad rep in store.  She helped me understand the importance of a treatment like this or the serum, she also reiterated the importance of sunscreen.

This product is 100% worth stopping in for a sample.  Let me know your thoughts on it if you do.

-Side note:  Toner-the Murad rep convinced me to get a toner.  YEARS AND YEARS of failed toner results and this one I actually like.  I am currently using nearly $500 in skincare and if toner actually improves effectiveness it seems like a no brainer.  I feel like I can actually feel a difference with the toner–stand by for more on toners, I want to give it a little more time.

Let’s talk about sex baby…

As a new blogger and a marketing professional I have been enthralled by the statistics that WordPress provides.  You as the readers should be ashamed 😉

It turns out all my highest read reviews have some kind of unintentional sexual connotation in the title.   Essentially, sex sells-even in a blog about beauty products….On average, the days my blog has a “sexy title” I get OVER DOUBLE the readers.  REALLY?  OVER DOUBLE…some days even TRIPLE!  PERVERTS 😉

Based on this info, YOU WIN.  Let’s talk about sex.

This weekend while walking down State St. a homeless man YELLED AT ME.  It’s bad enough that he actually yelled at me, worse yet, he called me an “EFFIN INTERNATIONAL PERVERT!”  My obvious first reaction to this was shock, then I could NOT STOP LAUGHING.  Seriously, body shaking laughter. People were staring.  I decided to text this harrowing story to my crew…  My bestie in MPLS writes back and says: “International bc your Asian.”  hmmmm…and pervert because I’m????  WHY IS THIS SO OBVIOUS TO MY BESTIE???  How’s that for a sexy story!?

Now on to sexy product talk!

For the last few weeks, I have been testing NUMEROUS tinted moisturizers. My research all pointed to Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ILLUMINATING

What it is:
A moisturizer with a hint of shimmering color.

What it does:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Illuminating is a lightweight, buildable sheer foundation formula that delivers a youthful, radiant finish.

What else you need to know:
Protecting skin from the damaging rays of the sun with SPF 20 protection, this skin-friendly formula contains a unique Dewy Complex that is proven to keep the skin moisturized and better equipped to combat external aggressors and irritants. Layer with other foundations for a custom blend and radiant finish. It’s dermatologist-tested.”

My Professional Product Whore Opinion:

On paper this product is the bomb.com.  It has SPF 20, sheer coverage AND Illuminator!  Everything I could hope for:)  I even tested the Oil Free Version.

For two weeks I applied this over my daily Murad Radiance C Serum.  Unfortuantely, I found this product to be WAY too THICK and GREASY.  Not nearly as light as I had hoped. As you know, I hate feeling like I am wearing a product.  I HATE IT.  This tinted moisturizer never really soaks in.  ALL DAY. It actually feels like grease on my skin.  NOT AT ALL SEXY.

I was super duper disappointed.  All the reviews on Sephora were so positive.  But my actual experience was far from it.

Three Cheers for SERUMS!!! If you aren’t, you should be…

Sephora

My Professional Product Whore Opinion:

Aside from brushing my teeth, this is my other ABSOLUTE twice daily.  NO MATTER WHAT.

Adding this serum to my daily routine changed my skin SO much for the better.  Prior to this my skin was so BLAH.  I was seriously struggling with dullness and overall just a grayish hue (no one is cute with gray skin).  This serum goes on light-dries SO SO SO FAST and gives a little tingle (it feels like its fixing my skin) while it IMMEDIATELY firms.  I feel glowy and instantly awake after I apply. This is the first product I have ever found that adds INSTANT RADIANCE as a SKIN CARE product!  I wish I had bigger words to convey my love for this product!

Mary Poppins has my Back (thank you youtube)

Caveats: In my “PROFESSIONAL PRODUCT WHORE” opinion, you will need to wear an SPF moisturizer with this serum.  For me it doesn’t have enough moisture. Also, keep in mind that the tingle is AGGRESSIVE at first, ESPECIALLY if you have sensitive skin.  AND, I have heard that VITAMIN C serums can increase your likelihood to get sun burned.  Face it ladies, we are older and can’t afford sun damage.  WEAR A SUNSCREEN!  DO IT.  Seriously, wear sunscreen or you might end up looking like this:

While there is something I love about this face, I know that the damage is NOT reversible!

Or maybe even this:

Even that little boy is inspired to wear spf 100

My Professional Product Whore Opinion:

Perfectly hydrating, and perfectly natural. Its like chap stick and gloss all in one:)  AND SPF 10.

Lips are important to me.  HOWEVER, I have the toughest time because my lips are WICKED sensitive.  I have to be super careful with sticks, glosses and balms.  If I’m not careful, my lips, the inside of my mouth and my tounge will look like a character in the Star Trek series.

For example:

EPIC FAIL

Ok, maybe not that bad…plus she did that on purpose.  (That’s gotta be a proud moment for her parents)

Allergic Reaction to Lips Glosses, Stick..ect.

This is a better representation of what actually happens.  Thank you Google Images:) for both of those wonderful lil nuggets:)

This is what is suppose to happen:
