Post Facial Feelings…

First I felt like this:

At first my face felt raw.  My aesthetician was pretty clear that I would be sensitive, so at least I knew what to expect.  I was so glad she gave me the Milk of Magnesia prescription as it was the ONLY thing that soothed my skin.  Also, I mean it when I say, I really looked like a 13 year old boy.  My skin was completely full of imperfections.  The treatment just accentuated this but strangely my skin felt really good.  The texture was amazingly smooth and tight–BUT NOT DRY.  I knew that it was going to be more sensitive because it was my first time.

Then like this:

The first night I was REALLY sensitive.  The new products are intense (which is a HUGE surprise to me, I assumed that “all natural” meant less potent–100% not the case).  I am following her post treatment instructions to a T.  Vag cream and all.  Each day I look forward to the Milk of Magnesia mask.  Again, I knew it was going to be sensitive because it was my first time.

Now I feel like this:

Today is 4 days post treatment.  No sign of zits, and my skin looks AMAZING.   Totally worth the minor discomfort from the first 2 days.  Seriously, Wonder Woman meets Kim K amazing.  Even my scaring looks so much better.  My SHH admitted this morning that he was really worried that it was going to get worse but I could tell this morning that he was a little jealous.

I definitely have a glow from within look today.  I haven’t worn make up since Friday (pre-treatment).  I also haven’t worn sunscreen-which is against almost everything I believe in.  I have been wearing wide rimmed hats (stand by for awesome hat pics next week.) The idea of putting chemicals on my face right now is really disgusting to me.  I am looking into a new chemical free sunscreen now….let me know if any of you have suggestions.

I am really really really looking forward to my next treatment.  I’m not even scared of the extractions:)

Stand by for full product reviews.  I feel like its cheating if I give them to you after 4 days.

In other news, I did try a new product that I got from my Beauty Fix box before vacation.

My Professional Product Whore Opinion:

Hated it.  I was excited about this line for a while, but terribly disappointed.

I followed the directions perfectly.  I even made sure to blowdry to seal the gel in before bed.

When I washed it out, I felt like there was a residue.  I HATE THAT FEELING.  So I washed again.  Still residue.  GROSS.

“Just one application will instantly revitalize your hair color, speed up blow-drying time, and lock in shine for a sexy, touchable, red-carpet finish.” -philipb.com

Nope, none of that.  Just gross residue that weighed my hair down.

FAIL.

Let’s talk about sex baby…

As a new blogger and a marketing professional I have been enthralled by the statistics that WordPress provides.  You as the readers should be ashamed 😉

It turns out all my highest read reviews have some kind of unintentional sexual connotation in the title.   Essentially, sex sells-even in a blog about beauty products….On average, the days my blog has a “sexy title” I get OVER DOUBLE the readers.  REALLY?  OVER DOUBLE…some days even TRIPLE!  PERVERTS 😉

Based on this info, YOU WIN.  Let’s talk about sex.

This weekend while walking down State St. a homeless man YELLED AT ME.  It’s bad enough that he actually yelled at me, worse yet, he called me an “EFFIN INTERNATIONAL PERVERT!”  My obvious first reaction to this was shock, then I could NOT STOP LAUGHING.  Seriously, body shaking laughter. People were staring.  I decided to text this harrowing story to my crew…  My bestie in MPLS writes back and says: “International bc your Asian.”  hmmmm…and pervert because I’m????  WHY IS THIS SO OBVIOUS TO MY BESTIE???  How’s that for a sexy story!?

Now on to sexy product talk!

For the last few weeks, I have been testing NUMEROUS tinted moisturizers. My research all pointed to Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ILLUMINATING

What it is:
A moisturizer with a hint of shimmering color.

What it does:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Illuminating is a lightweight, buildable sheer foundation formula that delivers a youthful, radiant finish.

What else you need to know:
Protecting skin from the damaging rays of the sun with SPF 20 protection, this skin-friendly formula contains a unique Dewy Complex that is proven to keep the skin moisturized and better equipped to combat external aggressors and irritants. Layer with other foundations for a custom blend and radiant finish. It’s dermatologist-tested.”

My Professional Product Whore Opinion:

On paper this product is the bomb.com.  It has SPF 20, sheer coverage AND Illuminator!  Everything I could hope for:)  I even tested the Oil Free Version.

For two weeks I applied this over my daily Murad Radiance C Serum.  Unfortuantely, I found this product to be WAY too THICK and GREASY.  Not nearly as light as I had hoped. As you know, I hate feeling like I am wearing a product.  I HATE IT.  This tinted moisturizer never really soaks in.  ALL DAY. It actually feels like grease on my skin.  NOT AT ALL SEXY.

I was super duper disappointed.  All the reviews on Sephora were so positive.  But my actual experience was far from it.

Sacrifices….

When my husband and I were dating, I told him early on that I would not marry him if he continued to smoke.  Our marriage was in fact contingent upon this condition.  I felt like if we were going to make this commitment, we should be able to demand the best from each other (in every sense.)  I didn’t want to marry someone that would knowingly subject themselves to the dangers of lung cancer.  PLUS, I think it stinks so bad and I have never met a smoker with beautiful skin.  In an effort to contribute to the pre nuptial sacrifices I gave up an equally ridiculous bad habit that could cause cancer…skin cancer. If he gives up smoking, I would give up tanning beds.  In both cases, the damage is self-inflicted and unnecessary.

My Professional Product Whore Opinion:

Ohhhhhh….tanning towels:)  BIG FRESH LEMONY TANNING TOWELS.  I love that this tanning towel is about the same size (maybe larger) as a standard paper towel.  That’s HUGE and I dig it.  It smells delicious (like Fruit Loops).

I like that its wicked easy to apply.  I like that it dries semi-fast.  I like that it smells pleasant enough and doesn’t transfer.  I like the actual color:)  I love that its not at all orange.  For me it was noticeable pretty quickly.  Its not even a little bit messy (this is a huge perk).  With very little effort I was able to get a streak less, blotchi-less, even tan in just mins.

I totally recommend it.  Especially for those of you that aren’t super detail oriented:)

Update: Neither of us have broken our pre-nup promises 🙂
